Fellowshipping and Love for the Brethen
God Bless everyone It has been awhile since I actually wrote a piece,I've been a little busy the past couple months I was privileged to make a missionary trip to Peru to help rebuild a church destroyed by the earthquakes of 2007 and to do evangelism.God is amazing I got to spread the Gospel on a different continent!
This article is in response to a couple of instances where self-professing Christians claim there is no need for a "Christian" to regularly attend church services.I believe the Bible is quite clear about this,The Bible will show that regular fellowship with fellow believers is a natural by product of a True follower of Jesus Christ.
1 John 3:14-18 ESV "We know that we have passed out of death into life,because we love the brothers.Whoever does not love abides in death Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer,and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need yet closes his heart against him,how does God's love abide in him? Little children let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth."
Hebrews 10:25 ESV "not neglecting to meet together,as is the habit of some,but encouraging one another,and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
OK let's start with the Book of 1st John in the above passages John is comparing the love Christ demonstrated to us by going to the Cross for our sins to the love we should have for our brothers.The love we should have for fellow believers is said here to be a sign of us passing from "death to life" which is another way to describe regeneration.Now what always perplexes me is when "Christians" say they don't need church because God is dealing with them "one on one". But if you are a true born again Christian the Holy Spirit in you will want to be around other Christians. I'm not talking about missing services due to illness or life's obligations for a time.I'm speaking about those that claim "there waiting on God" and purposely avoid fellowship.This is UN biblical, the Spirit will always lead to fellowship because God is Love and in the verses above we see WE ARE SUPPOSE TO LOVE THE FAMILY IN CHRIST THE SAME WAY. How can that be accomplished by staying away from Christians? The Word is clear if you are in Christ then you should WANT TO FELLOWSHIP.
This is not a new problem to the Church and that is why the author of Hebrews warns in 10:25 that we should not neglect or in other translations forsake the meeting of ourselves with other believers.Please if a believer is claiming that GOD is instructing them to stay away from church it is clear THAT IT IS NOT GOD"S VOICE THEY ARE HEARING.A person should pray God would lead them to a good Bible-based church but all the while realizing no church is perfect and if there is a perfect church, that church will be no longer perfect once You or I step inside it because We Are Not Perfect. I pray in Jesus name That the Church of Christ would truly love one another as The Word and God commands us Amen.
